Former men's hockey captain P.R. Sreejesh was awarded the Padma Bhushan, while recently retired cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin received the Padma Shri award.
I.M. Vijayan (renowned football player) and Harvinder Singh (first Paralympic gold medalist archer) were also awarded Padma Shri.
