Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), based in India, has inaugurated its first overseas office in Dhaka, Bangladesh, marking a significant expansion of its operations beyond national borders.
NRL played a crucial role in the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline Project, which saw the inauguration of a cross-border pipeline by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Premier Sheikh Hasina. This pipeline has enhanced the supply of petroleum products to Bangladesh in a sustainable and cost-effective manner.
NRL has diversified its business beyond its core downstream operations. It has ventured into new areas such as setting up the Indo-Bangla Friendship Pipeline, establishing the country's first bamboo-based 2G Bio-Refinery, and entering the upstream exploration and production business under the Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP).
