  • Noted scientist and Director of Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar Dr Ajay Parida passed away.
  • Parida, a Padma Shri awardee, was 58 years old.
  • The ILS conducted genome sequencing to ascertain Covid variants, essential for proper treatment, under supervision of Dr Parida.
  • He was elected as President of the Agriculture Science and Forestry section of the Indian Science Congress in 2012.
  • Dr. Parida was the President of Biological Sciences Session of the National Academy of Sciences India in 2014.
