Noted scientist and Director of Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar Dr Ajay Parida passed away.
Parida, a Padma Shri awardee, was 58 years old.
The ILS conducted genome sequencing to ascertain Covid variants, essential for proper treatment, under supervision of Dr Parida.
He was elected as President of the Agriculture Science and Forestry section of the Indian Science Congress in 2012.
Dr. Parida was the President of Biological Sciences Session of the National Academy of Sciences India in 2014.
