Researchers have discovered a new orchid species, Diplozentrum papillosum, in Kerala’s Idukki district, enriching the biodiversity of the Western Ghats. The species, endemic to the southern Ghats, was documented in the journal Species. It is known for pink-and-white fragrant blooms and unique floral structure. Adapted to rocky and tree habitats, the orchid highlights the ecological significance of this global biodiversity hotspot.
