  • On 14th January 2025, Union Minister Piyush Goyal inaugurated the National Turmeric Board in Nizamabad, Telangana, which will focus on the welfare of turmeric farmers from 20 states.
  • India accounts for more than 62% of the world turmeric trade and exported 1.62 lakh tonnes of turmeric in 2023-24.
  • This board will prove beneficial for turmeric growers of about 20 states across the country, especially during the Sankranti festival.
