On 14th January 2025, Union Minister Piyush Goyal inaugurated the National Turmeric Board in Nizamabad, Telangana, which will focus on the welfare of turmeric farmers from 20 states.
India accounts for more than 62% of the world turmeric trade and exported 1.62 lakh tonnes of turmeric in 2023-24.
This board will prove beneficial for turmeric growers of about 20 states across the country, especially during the Sankranti festival.
