National Farmers Day is celebrated every year on 23 December in the country.
This day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister of the country Chaudhary Charan Singh.
Chaudhary Charan Singh was the fifth Prime Minister of the country.
His tenure was from July 1979 to January 1980.
Chaudhary Charan Singh was born on 23 December 1902 in Hapur.
In the year 2001, it was decided to celebrate Farmers Day on 23 December every year in the honor of Chaudhary Charan Singh.
The purpose of celebrating this day as Farmer's Day is to draw everyone's attention to issues like the upliftment of farmers, their important contribution in economic development, and their problems.
The theme of National Farmers Day 2023 has been 'Providing Smart Solutions for Sustainable Food Security and Resilience'.
