National Bird Day is celebrated every year on 5 January in the country.
According to the United Nations report, 12 percent of the 10,000 bird species are on the verge of extinction.
National Bird Day is celebrated to raise awareness about these ecological problems and to protect and conserve birds across the world.
Celebrating this day started in the year 2002.
This day was started by the initiative of Avian Welfare Coalition.
The organization works to promote awareness of birds captured or bred in captivity for financial gain or human entertainment.
The theme of this year's National Bird Day is 'Right to Fight'.
