Category : Business and economics Published on: January 02 2026
Prime Minister recently spotlighted Narasapuram lace craft from West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh, as a beacon of women’s empowerment and economic growth. Originating in the 19th century through Christian missionaries, this crochet craft uses fine cotton threads to create intricate floral, geometric, and paisley designs on products like bedspreads and mobile covers. With around 60% women artisans, the craft has earned a GI tag and ‘One District One Product’ recognition, promoting local livelihoods and preserving traditional artistry.
