Italy hosted its third Winter Olympics (after 1956 Cortina, 2006 Turin) across Milan, Cortina d'Ampezzo, Bormio, and Val di Fiemme from Feb 4-22, 2026, with the Opening Ceremony on Feb 6 under IOC supervision. Over 2,900 athletes compete in 116 snow/ice events like skiing, skating, ice hockey, promoting global cooperation, sustainable infrastructure, and cultural exchange.
