Lahore has been named the world's most polluted city, edging out its traditional opponent, New Delhi.
Lahore's official Air Quality Index (AQI) was reported at 289 (averaged between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.), whereas foreign monitoring agencies reported a score of 397.
Lahore, a bustling megacity of over 11 million inhabitants in Punjab province near the Indian border, has routinely ranked among the world's most polluted cities.
