Konkan Railway has accomplished 100 per cent electrification of the entire stretch of its broad gauge network as a part of its plan to provide an environment-friendly, green and clean mode of transportation to passengers under the 'Mission 100 per cent Electrification'.
The foundation stone for the electrification of the entire 741 km route work was laid in November 2015.
The total cost of the project is Rs 1,287 crore.
The government of India is working on a project ‘Mission 100% Electrification – Moving towards net Zero Carbon Emission’ to make railways 100% Electrified.
