Kerala and Uttarakhand jointly secured the top rank in the SDG India Index 2023-24 with a composite score of 79 points, marking Kerala's fourth consecutive year at the top position.
Bihar was identified as the worst performing state in the index, with a score of 57 points. It was followed by Jharkhand with 62 points and Nagaland with 63 points.
Among Union Territories (UTs), Chandigarh emerged as the top performer in the SDG Index, followed by Jammu & Kashmir, Puducherry, Andaman Nicobar Islands, and Delhi.
India's overall SDG score improved from 66 points in 2020-21 to 71 points in 2023-24, reflecting advancements in poverty reduction, economic growth, climate action, and biodiversity conservation efforts across the country.
