  • Kerala and Uttarakhand jointly secured the top rank in the SDG India Index 2023-24 with a composite score of 79 points, marking Kerala's fourth consecutive year at the top position.
  • Bihar was identified as the worst performing state in the index, with a score of 57 points. It was followed by Jharkhand with 62 points and Nagaland with 63 points.
  • Among Union Territories (UTs), Chandigarh emerged as the top performer in the SDG Index, followed by Jammu & Kashmir, Puducherry, Andaman Nicobar Islands, and Delhi.
  • India's overall SDG score improved from 66 points in 2020-21 to 71 points in 2023-24, reflecting advancements in poverty reduction, economic growth, climate action, and biodiversity conservation efforts across the country.
