Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on 6 January 2025 that he would resign as leader and prime minister of the Liberal Party.
He will remain in office until a new leader is elected.
Canada's parliament was adjourned until March 24 to give the Liberal Party enough time to choose its new leader.
