Japan, through the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), successfully landed the Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (SLIM) on the moon, marking its entry as the fifth country to achieve this feat.
Achieving a significant milestone, Japan has now joined the exclusive club of nations that have accomplished a gentle landing on the moon.
On the morning of January 20, 2024, the Smart Lander for Investigating Moon, affectionately known as SLIM, executed a precise landing within its designated zone adjacent to the Shioli crater, positioned to the south of the lunar equator.
