  • The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, 2023 has been introduced in the Lok Sabha on December 5, 2023.
  • This bill was introduced by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.
  • In this bill, a provision for reservation has been made for Pandits in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.
  • According to the bill, 2 seats will be reserved for Kashmiri Pandits in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.
  • One seat among Kashmiri Pandits will be reserved for women.
  • Kashmiri Pandits will be nominated by the Lieutenant Governor.
  • Kashmiri Pandits are defined as persons who migrated from the Kashmir Valley or any other part of the State of Jammu and Kashmir after November 1, 1989 and are registered with the Relief Commissioner's Department.
  • At the same time, 1 seat will be reserved for Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
  • P.O.K. The Lieutenant Governor will also nominate a person on the seat reserved for.
