  • The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has achieved a significant milestone in the development of its semi-cryogenic propulsion system with the successful ignition test of pre-burner.
  • ISRO has developed a pre-burner ignition test article for its 2,000 kilo Newton thrust semi-cryogenic engine that complements the engine power head system. The ignition test on the test article was conducted on May 2.
  • The "smooth and continuous ignition" of the pre-burner (combustion chamber in the rocket engine), which is important for starting the engine, was demonstrated during the test conducted at the Cryo Integrated Engine Test Facility at ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC).
