  • INS Sagardhwani, India’s ocean research vessel operated by DRDO’s Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), was flagged off for the fifth edition of the Sagar Maitri mission on January 17, 2026, from Kochi under the Southern Naval Command.
  • The flag-off ceremony was led by Shri Radha Mohan Singh, Member of Parliament and Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence.
  • Sagar Maitri is a flagship collaborative initiative of the Indian Navy and DRDO, aligned with India’s MAHASAGAR vision—Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions.
