Renowned Indian mountaineer Aritra Roy has successfully climbed Mount Aconcagua in Argentina, the highest peak outside Asia, rising 6,967.15 metres above mean sea level. The solo expedition, fully sponsored by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), marks a significant achievement in Roy’s Seven Summits mission, following his earlier ascent of Mount Everest. He reached the summit on January 7 at 2:00 PM local time after completing a challenging 44-km trek under extreme conditions, including temperatures of –40°C, snowstorms and blizzards, and remained at the peak for around 45 minutes before descending.
