Indian Army Day is celebrated on 15 January, a day to honour the valour and dedication of the Indian Army. The day is celebrated to commemorate the assumption of office by General KM Cariappa as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army in 1949.
The 77th Indian Army Day will be held under the theme "Samarth Bharat, Saksham Sena" which will feature military parades, manoeuvres and display of state-of-the-art military equipment at Cariappa Parade Ground in Delhi.
