  • The Indian Army has celebrated the 76th Infantry day on 27th October 2022.
  • Infantry Day is commemorated on 27 October every year to acknowledge the contributions of Infantry, the largest fighting arm of the Indian Army. 
  • Infantry day is celebrated to mark the day when the infantry of the Indian army, led by 1st battalion of the Sikh Regiment, made its way into the Srinagar airfield in Jammu and Kashmir in 1947.
  • The date October 27 was chosen for the occasion as it was on this day that the first Indian infantry soldiers defended the country’s territory from external aggression.
