The Government of India has introduced the AI Governance Framework 2025, a comprehensive roadmap to regulate Artificial Intelligence responsibly. The framework emphasizes using existing laws like the IT Act and Data Protection Law, while updating intermediary rules to align with emerging AI technologies. It proposes the creation of a central agency the AI Policy Coordination Agency to oversee AI policies, regulation, and safety across ministries. The plan also prioritizes risk monitoring, legal accountability, and continuous review of AI-related laws. This forward-looking initiative aims to position India as a global leader in responsible and innovative AI governance, balancing technological progress with ethical safeguards.
