  • India and the US announced the co-creation of the US Sonobuoy under the Undersea Domain Awareness (UDA) for the Indian Navy.
  • The Sonobuoy will be jointly manufactured as per US Navy standards for the Indian Navy, with production split between India and the US.
  • This partnership will work under the 'Make in India' principles and will contribute to strengthening India's defence industrial base.
  • This technical cooperation between India and the US is against China's growing naval influence in regional security, especially in the Indian Ocean region.
