India and the US announced the co-creation of the US Sonobuoy under the Undersea Domain Awareness (UDA) for the Indian Navy.
The Sonobuoy will be jointly manufactured as per US Navy standards for the Indian Navy, with production split between India and the US.
This partnership will work under the 'Make in India' principles and will contribute to strengthening India's defence industrial base.
This technical cooperation between India and the US is against China's growing naval influence in regional security, especially in the Indian Ocean region.
