Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Dr. L Murugan said, India stands third in the world in terms of fish production.
He has also said that the ministry has taken several steps to improve fish production, export and infrastructure development in the last eight years like The Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana.
India is the 3rd largest fish producing and 2nd largest aquaculture nation in the world after China.
