India has risen to 38th place in the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2025, up from 48th in 2020, leading all lower-middle-income economies and the Central & Southern Asia region. The top 10 countries are Switzerland (1st), Sweden (2nd), United States (3rd), South Korea (4th), Singapore (5th), United Kingdom (6th), Finland (7th), Netherlands (8th), Denmark (9th) and China (10th). India excels in Knowledge & Technology Outputs and Market Sophistication, while areas like Business Sophistication, Infrastructure, and Institutions need improvement.
