India has ranked 71st among 113 countries in the Global Food Security Index (GFS) 2021. Ireland, Australia, UK, Finland, Switzerland, Netherlands Canada, Japan, France, USA shared the top spot on the index with an overall GFS score of between 77.8 and 80 points.
According to the report, India ranked 71st out of 113 countries in the GFS Index 2021, with a total score of 57.2. Pakistan came in 75th place, and Bangladesh came in 84th place. However, India lags far behind China (34th).
In a detailed report released by Economist Impact and Corteva AgriScience, India ranked first in South Asia in terms of overall scores but second in terms of food affordability to neighbours Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
