Union Minister for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, launched India’s first National Biofoundry Network on August 27, 2025. The initiative involves six leading institutions and aims to scale up biotechnology-based proof-of-concept innovations, enhance indigenous biomanufacturing, and generate employment opportunities. The minister described the step as pivotal for positioning biotechnology as a key driver of India’s economy, environmental sustainability, and job creation.
