  • The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry announced an ambitious target of achieving 10,000 Geographical Indication (GI) tags by 2030. The announcement was made at the GI Samagam organised by DPIIT and India Today Group.
  • There are currently 605 GI tags issued, and a dedicated committee will be formed under the "whole government approach" to achieve this goal by 2030.
