  • The Himachal Pradesh Assembly passed a bill that will debar members of the House disqualified under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution (Anti-Defection Act) from receiving pensions.
  • The Himachal Pradesh Assembly (Allowances and Pension of Members' (Amendment) Bill, 2024 will affect six former Congress MLAs who were disqualified by the Speaker in February for defying the whip and staying away from the House while discussing cut motions and passing the budget.
  • Himachal Pradesh is the first state in the country to pass a bill under which "any person disqualified for any time under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution shall not be entitled to pension under the Act.
