In the city of Haridwar, Uttarakhand, the sale of meat has now been completely banned.
All meat shops operating within the municipal area will soon be shut down.
The rest of Haridwar city is a dry zone where the sale of non-vegetarian food and alcohol is prohibited.
There will be no meat shops throughout the city anymore.
Currently, there are about 100 butcher shops operating in the Haridwar municipal area.
