The Department of Financial Services has merged 26 Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) across 10 states and 1 Union Territory under the “One State, One RRB” policy, marking the fourth phase of RRB consolidation.
After this amalgamation, the total number of RRBs will reduce to 28, covering 700 districts with over 22,000 branches — 92% of which are in rural and semi-urban areas.
