  • India on 20 January 2025 allowed export of 10 lakh metric tonnes of sugar during the current season till September 2025 to help mills in the world's second largest producing country export surplus stock and support local prices.
  • The government has approved export quotas to strengthen the sugar sector by providing price stability and providing assistance to 50 million sugarcane growers.
  • The food ministry has allocated a uniform export quota of 3.174 per cent of their three-year average production to mills.
