  • The Government of India is promoting scientific temper among youth through the Yuva Vigyani Karyakram (YUVIKA), an ISRO initiative.
  • Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted its importance in Parliament for inspiring Class 9 students towards space science careers.
  • The programme provides foundational knowledge in space technology, applications and research through a merit-based selection process.
  • So far, 1,320 students have benefited from the programme.
  • It includes 15% reservation for students from rural and remote areas to ensure inclusivity.
  • YUVIKA aims to build a scientifically skilled workforce and strengthen India’s future capabilities in the space sector.
