  • NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra for development of Green Hydrogen and Derivatives (Green Ammonia, Green Methanol) up to 1 million tonnes per annum capacity.
  • The MoU aims to develop green hydrogen and its derivatives, such as green ammonia and green methanol, with a capacity of up to 1 million tons per annum.
  • The agreement includes plans for pumped storage projects totaling 2 GW, enhancing the state's energy storage capabilities.
  • Development of renewable energy projects, with or without storage, is targeted up to 5 GW, aligning with Maharashtra's green energy goals.
  • The MoU signals a significant investment of approximately ₹80,000 crores, reflecting the state's commitment to sustainable development.
  • The exchange of the MoU occurred between NGEL's CEO, Shri Mohit Bhargava, and the Deputy Secretary (Energy) of the Government of Maharashtra, Shri Narayan Karad, in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, underscoring high-level support for the initiative.
