  • Former Nice and Lyon goalkeeper Lloris captained France to victory at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
  • Lloris, who made his international debut as a 21-year-old in a friendly against Uruguay in November 2008, bows out after becoming France's most-capped player during the World Cup.
  • Lloris, 36, is France's most-capped player with 145 appearances, 121 of them as team captain.
  • France has lost to Argentina in the final of the FIFA World Cup 2022 this time.
  • Kylian Mbappe, the French player who won the Golden Boot award (awarded to the tournament's top goalscorer), scored a hat-trick in the final.
