  • Former Chief Justice of India Justice (Retd) Jagdish Singh Khehar, who in 2017 had voiced a dissenting opinion among the Supreme Court bench outlawing triple talaq, was honoured with the Padma Vibhushan, the country's second highest civilian award, as part of the Padma awards announced on the eve of Republic Day.
  • Gastroenterologist D. Nageswara Reddy and Kathak dancer Kumudini Rajinikanth Lakhia, violinist Lakshminarayan Subramaniam were among the Padma Vibhushan awardees. 
  • Eminent writer MT Vasudevan Nair, Japan's Suzuki Motor leader Osamu Suzuki, and Bhojpuri and Maithili singer Sharda Sinha were posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan.
