  • The Karnataka Forest Department has launched the 'Garudakshi' online FIR system to curb forest encroachment, illegal tree felling, poaching and unauthorised entry into forest areas.
  • The initiative will initially be implemented in Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Forest Mobile Squad, Bhadravathi, Sirsi and Malai Mahadeshwara Wildlife divisions. The system aims to curb forest crimes and ensure accountability.
  • The 'Garudakshi' system, developed in collaboration with the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI), will help curb crimes such as trespassing, illegal logging, poaching and ensure transparency and accountability in the judicial process.
