  • A variety of books based on the lives of Indian leaders like BR Ambedkar and Sheikh Abdullah and the Dom community of Varanasi have been selected for the Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay NIF Book Award.
  • The New India Foundation announced the books selected for the seventh edition of the prestigious award. The award is given to honour the "finest non-fictional writing about the history of independent India.
  • The books selected for the book award include Neerja Chaudhary's 'How Prime Ministers Decide', Ashok Gopal's 'A Part Apart: The Life and Thought of B.R. Ambedkar' and Radhika Iyengar's Fire on the Ganges: Life Among the Dead in Banaras '.
  • Kunal Purohit's " H-Pop: The Secretive World of Hindutva Pop Stars" and Chitralekha Zutshi's "Sheikh Abdullah: The Caged Lion of Kashmir" also feature in the list.
  • The winning author is given a cash prize of Rs 15 lakh.
