  • Fatima Bano, of Choskore village in Ladakh's Union Territory, is the first woman from Kargil to receive the 'Ladakh Resident' certificate.
  • According to the Ladakh Resident Certificate Order 2021, anyone who has a Permanent Resident Certificate issued by the Competent Authority in Leh or Kargil, or who falls into the category of persons eligible to receive a PRC from the Competent Authority, is eligible to apply for a Resident Certificate.
  • The Union Government made Ladakh a separate Union Territory on August 5, 2019, by dividing the former Jammu and Kashmir state into two Union Territories and revoking its special status under Article 370.
