Ex-CJI Ranjan Gogoi to receive 'Assam Baibhav Award'

Former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Ranjan Gogoi, has been selected for the Assam Baibhav award.
This marks the third year of the awards, with previous recipients being Ratan Tata and Tapan Saikia.
Gogoi, the first judge from the North East to hold the position of Chief Justice of India, is recognized for his exceptional efforts to expand the delivery of justice and enrich jurisprudence.
The Assam government chose Gogoi for his significant contributions to the legal field and the nation.
Gogoi became a nominated Rajya Sabha MP after retiring as Chief Justice, and he made his first parliamentary speech in support of the Union government’s Delhi Services Act.
Gogoi led the bench that delivered the landmark verdict in the Ram Janmabhumi-Babri Masjid title dispute in 2019, favoring the construction of the Ram Temple.
