  • Egypt is a country located in the North African continent.
  • Recently Egypt has announced that it is building a new administrative capital.
  • This new capital is 45 km from the present capital Cairo.
  • The area of the proposed new capital will be 700 square kilometers.
  • The population of Cairo, the current capital of Egypt, has increased significantly.
  • At present its population has reached about 2 crores.
  • A solar power plant will be set up in an area of 90 square km outside the new capital city, which will generate its own electricity.
  • Artificial lakes will be created around the city.
  • The estimated cost is Rs 3.30 lakh crore in this project. 
  • This new capital will be constructed by the year 2030.
