Ecuador's President Daniel Noboa declared a 60-day state of emergency in seven provinces and three municipalities amid growing internal unrest and crime.
The state of emergency is aimed at gaining the support of the military and police forces to stop violence and restore public order, especially against organised crime groups that have been involved in 'internal armed conflict' since January 2024.
