  • Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States. Vance was sworn in as the 50th Vice President. 
  • In his inauguration address, Trump declared the energy crisis a national emergency and announced a slew of new policies, including ending the "Green New Deal".
  • President Trump announced the establishment of an "External Revenue Service" to reform the trading system and impose tariffs on foreign countries to protect American workers and industries. 
  • He also presented a plan to rename the "Gulf of Mexico" to the "Gulf of America."
  • President Trump, at 78, is the oldest person ever inaugurated as president, surpassing Joe Biden, who was five months younger when he took the oath earlier.
