The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) under the Union Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) India on vaccine cold chain management, digitization of communication scheme and capacity building.
The MoU was signed by Alka Upadhyay, Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, and Caitlin Wissen, UNDP Resident Representative in India in New Delhi.
India has a huge population and livestock population with 142.86 crore people, 53.57 crore agricultural cattle and 85.18 crore poultry population.
To keep these animals healthy, the government has started vaccination programs so that humans can be protected from zoonotic diseases, such as bird flu and coronavirus.
