  • Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti V. Somanna launched the coffee table book “Karnataka Bharat Gaurav Train: Journey of a Thousand Shrines” at Rail Bhawan on 23 February 2026. The publication documents a major cultural tourism initiative under Indian Railways’ Bharat Gaurav Policy, highlighting its integration of faith, heritage, and modern rail infrastructure.
  • Conceptualised by Dr. Anup Dayanand, IRTS (Retd.), the Karnataka Bharat Gaurav Train has enabled over 30,000 devotees from Karnataka to undertake subsidised pilgrimages to Kashi and other sacred destinations. Themed circuits include Jyotirlinga Darshan, Shakti Peetha Yatra, and Puri Jagannath Yatra, with all-inclusive packages covering travel, meals, accommodation, and sightseeing.
  • So far, 46 trips have facilitated journeys for 28,786 pilgrims, generating approximately ₹25.57 crore in revenue. The initiative supports national campaigns like “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,” promoting cultural unity through accessible pilgrimage tourism.
