  • The Centre has decided to rename Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) as Prime Ministers' Museum and Society.
  • The Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) Society is an autonomous body under the Government of India.
  • The idea of setting up a museum dedicated to all the prime ministers of India at the Teen Murti complex in New Delhi was initially proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016
  • The decision to rename the institution, removing late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s name, was taken at a special meeting of the NMML Society.
  • The Executive Council, NMML had in its 162nd meeting held on 25-11-2016 approved the construction of the Museum of all Prime Ministers in the Teen Murti Estate. 
  • The Prime Minister's Museum was opened to the public on 21 April 2022.
