The Centre has decided to rename Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) as Prime Ministers' Museum and Society.
The Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) Society is an autonomous body under the Government of India.
The idea of setting up a museum dedicated to all the prime ministers of India at the Teen Murti complex in New Delhi was initially proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016
The decision to rename the institution, removing late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s name, was taken at a special meeting of the NMML Society.
The Executive Council, NMML had in its 162nd meeting held on 25-11-2016 approved the construction of the Museum of all Prime Ministers in the Teen Murti Estate.
The Prime Minister's Museum was opened to the public on 21 April 2022.
