The Government of India has notified a scheme worth ₹22,919 crore to boost electronics component manufacturing and make India self-reliant in the electronics supply chain.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that a portal will soon be launched to invite applications under the scheme, and industry consultations will begin to finalize implementation guidelines.
India has witnessed remarkable growth in the electronics sector over the past decade, with mobile phone exports crossing ₹2 lakh crore in FY 2024-25—a 54% increase over the previous year—and 25 lakh jobs created.
