  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the investment for the 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project in Himachal Pradesh by SJVN Limited on 4 January 2022.
  • The investment has received a heads-up for an estimated cost of Rs. 2614.51 crores including Rs. 13.80 crores as budgetary support from the Government for the cost of enabling infrastructure.
  • The government has identified the state of Himachal Pradesh to have sufficient resources to generate surplus hydropower.
