In the 'Index on Baseline Literacy and Numeracy ', an indicator of literacy among children under 10 years in the country, West Bengal topped the list in the category of "large states" and Bihar at the bottom.
Kerala is the best-performing small state in the index, while Jharkhand was the worst.
In this index, Lakshadweep is the top Union Territory, while Ladakh was at the bottom.
In the category of North-Eastern states, Mizoram ranks first, while Arunachal Pradesh is at the last position.
Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM), Bibek Debroy, unveiled the report prepared by the 'Institute for Competition.'
The rankings in this report have been made keeping in mind the following categories: Large States, Small States, Union Territories, and the North East States.
